Staeps (rightly) believes that the English Baroque is the fountainhead of recorder music, and that Purcell's music is the perfect vehicle. Here, he takes six excerpts from The Fairy Queen (introductions and dances) and fashions a Suite for recorder quartet with basso continuo (keyboard instrument with another bass instrument playing an octave lower than the bass recorder). For advanced quartets. Reprint of the 1957 UE original.Instrumentation:for recorder quartet and harpsichord (piano)

Selection Sixteen is a 1999 album by Squarepusher, released on Warp Records. According to the CD, the cover-art is from a film called Acid Trayners 2, which seems to be different pictures of an oscilloscope. Throughout the record the bass, hooked to an audio/midi converter, played an important part in the composition of synth and drum parts. Squarepusher is the performing pseudonym of Tom Jenkinson, an English electronic music artist signed to Warp Records. He specialises in the electronic music genres of drum and bass and acid, with a significant jazz and musique concrète influence.

After graduating as a silver medallist at the Guildhall School of Music, Parker played with leading London orchestras and chamber groups as well as being a key part of The Barrow Poets for whom he provided both original instrumental music and music to accompany the performance of a wide range of poetry spoken or sung by the rest of the band. This music was played on a variety of instruments including the bass cacacofiddle, a home made sort of double bass with knobs on, played by William Bealby-Wright, while Parker mostly played oboe and cor anglais.
