Die frischen, eklektischen Collagen aus elektronischen und akustischen Klängen sind von der Kritik begeistert aufgenommen worden.?TermineIn the spatial sound system ?The Pentacle 15.3,? developed by Fedde ten Berge, HAU Hebbel am Ufer and the Berlin-based musicians Driftmachine,Golden Diskó Ship, Jan Jelinek, and Jasmine Guffondinvite you into an immersive concert situation. In a circular arrangement made up of the audience and the artists, the interplay of sound and space will be newly explored, turning it into a holistic experience. 4.3.: Jan Jelinek / Jasmine Guffond6.3.: Driftmachine / Golden Diskó ShipJan Jelinek?s works deal with the transformation of sounds, translating source materials from popular music into abstract, reduced textures. Bypassing traditional musical instruments, he constructs collages using sound fragments from a wide variety of recording devices: tape recorders, digital samplers, media players and the like. He began releasing his work in 1998, initially under the pseudonyms Farben and Gramm. In 2000, his sound collages played in the Young Media Pavilion at the EXPO2000 fair in Hanover. Over the following years, he worked with artists like Sarah Morris, the writer Thomas Meinecke or the improvisation ensemble Computer Soup, and created audio-visual performances with video artist Karl Kliem at venues including the Centre Pompidou in Paris. In 2007, with Andrew Pekler and Hanno Leichtmann, he founded the improvisation trio Groupshow that refuses any repertoire and any limitation on performance duration. In 2008, Jelinek established the faitiche label as a platform for his own experiments, for joint projects, and for work by musician friends. Since 2012, Jelinek has been writing and producing experimental radio pieces for state broadcaster SWR that deal with fictional identities and soundscapes. Under the pseudonym Gesellschaft zur Emanzipation des Samples, as Ursula Bogner, or using his own name, Jelinek?s oeuvre ranges from field recording collage to electroacoustic music to minimalistic drone.Jasmine Guffond is an artist and composer working at the interface of social, political and technical infrastructures. Her practice spans live performance, recording, sound installation and custom-made browser plug-in. Through the sonification of data she addresses the potential for sound to engage with contemporary political questions. Recent projects employed digital technologies, sonification and the aesthetisation of data. Guffond has exhibited internationally, released solo records with the Sonic Pieces (2015, 2017) and Karlrecords (2018) labels, received the ?Working Grant for New Music and Sound Art? from the Berlin Senate (2016) and is a current PhD candidate at the University of New South Wales Art and Design conducting research into sound as a method of investigation into online surveillance cultures. A new album is due to be released on Editions Mego in Spring 2020.Synth duo Driftmachine started as a workshop where Andreas Gerth and Florian Zimmer, producers of an extensive back-catalog of records and projects, focused on synth exploration and search for a new approach for groove and bass-driven music. The project steadily evolved and the duo ended up releasing several albums on the acclaimed Mexico-based experimental imprint Umor Rex, labels like Hallow Ground & Ongehoord. The duo also produced sound montages for several exhibitions of fine arts, e.g. for Riga International Biennial RIBOCA and for the artist Moritz Götze. They perform live regularly, working with 2 modular systems functioning in sync. Driftmachine?s sound is obsessive, symmetrical and multilayered; a deep and elegant language based on the shaky, unpredictable foundations of modular synthesis.Golden Diskó Ship is the solo project of Theresa Stroetges, a multi-instrumentalist and video artist. She combines pop and experiment, sound collages and catchy melodies, electronic and acoustic instruments as well as video projections.?Her imaginative soundscapes, shifting from delicate melodic lines steeped in nostalgia to the feedback arcs and textured distortion of machine abuse, evoke lucid dreams and have won critical praise for their fresh, eclectic collages of electronic and acoustic sound. The understanding of the musical techniques of composition cannot be reduced to a handbook of simplified rules. Music is complex and ever changing. It is the purpose of this book to trace the path of musical growth from the late Romantic period to the serial techniques of the contemporary composer. Through the detailed analysis of the musical characteristics that dominate a specific style of writing, a graduated plan is organized and presented here in the form of explanations and exercises. A new analytical method substitutes for the diatonic figured bass and makes exercises and the analysis of non-diatonic literature more manageable. The explanations describing each technique are thorough. They are designed to help the teacher and the student see the many extenuating circumstances that affect a particular analytical decision. More important than a dogmatic decision on a particular key center or a root tone, for example, is the understanding of why such an underdeterminate condition may exist.

Criteria for Choral Voice Classification

There is no standard method for determiningbasic voice classification (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) of high school choir students. Most practicesseem to be based on tradition rather than research, and there are conflicting opinions about whichcriteria should or should not be considered, as wellas which are the most important. This book compilesthose opinions on voice classification (often hiddenin the vast expanses of a comprehensive choralmethods textbook) for comparison and analysis. Inaddition to the examination of scholarly literature, results of a survey of high school choir directorsfrom across the state of Texas are included. Thisbook focuses on the high school singer and would beparticularly useful to high school choir directorsand those in music teacher preparation classes.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! New Age music is music of various styles, which is intended to create inspiration, relaxation, and positive feelings, often used by listeners for yoga, massage, inspiration, relaxation, meditation, and reading as a method of stress management or to create a peaceful atmosphere in their home or other environments often associated with environmentalism and New Age spirituality. The harmonies in New Age music are generally modal, consonant, or include a drone bass. The melodies are often repetitive, to create a hypnotic feeling, and sometimes recordings of nature sounds are used as an introduction to a track or throughout the piece. Songs of up to 30 minutes' duration are common.

Following the very successful piano method published in two volumes between 1958 and 1962, the three-volume 'European Piano Method' represents a new textbook which takes into account the development of modern piano pedagogy. 7 Winning Features of the Emonts Method: 1 Songs from many European countries 2 Pupils begin to play without music notation 3 Improvisation and playing on the black keys 4 Development of listening skills and aural awareness 5 Simple and logical learning structure 6 Lots of duets 7 Attractive full-colour illustrations Volume 3 The third volume of 'The European Piano Method' is not strictly speaking a piano method, but rather a collection of meterial and suggestions for the advanced tution of now slightly older players. The author has therefore concentrated on selecting pieces from the vast wealth of the piano repertoire and grouping them according to specific structural criteria. With this approach, technical aspects (playing chord, thirds, sixths and other intervals) go hand in hand with musical themes (expressive touch, extending rhythmic awareness, cantabile playing with pedal). These developmental processes should suffuse each other: in the technical procedures, on the one hand, control over quality of tone, clarity and articulation should not falter; the pieces from the piano repertoire, on the other hand, should gain creative power through ever-increasing technical skills. The appendix of Volume 3 contains further 'yellow pages' with ideas for improvisation. the subjects are: Ostinato Bass Patterns, Song Accompaniement, Completing Melodies, Improvising over Chord Progressions, Seventh Chords, Introduction to Jazz Harmony. Instrumentation: piano

Grundlagen der Kontrabass-Technik

'What do I do when I want to produce this sound and am unable to?' The book 'Grundlagen der Kontrabass-Technik' by Michael B. Wolf provides detailed answers to such questions. With the help of a detailed programme, the pupil will quickly learn the purely technical elements which are indispensable for artistic expression. Topics such as bowing technique, change of position, vibrato, right-left coordination, intonation or performance preparation condense into an increasingly complex system that always takes all technical and intellectual aspects of sound generation into account. Although many techniques of this method represent a radical breach of tradition, they can be easily used for all double-bass methods and playing techniques. Michael Barry Wolf, born in 1954 in the USA, is professor of double bass at the Berlin Universitat der Künste. He studied music at the CaliforniaStateUniversity and was member of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. His radio and disc recordings as well as numerous concert activities and master classes at home and abroad have always received great critical acclaim.
